The Ultimate Answer To Diaper Rashes

Let’s get down to the bare facts about babies and bottoms. I have yet to hear of a mother that is not constantly tormented by a baby’s diaper rash. These rashes are difficult to treat and more than one mother has come to me with this aggravating problem that seems to live on, or to reappear, after it seems to have disappeared.

The endless lotions and potions sitting on the shelves don’t seem to work the miracles that they claim. After spending $10 on a cream that contains all the necessary ingredients to fix this diaper rash you head back to the store to buy a different brand. The first one didn’t work and neither, probably, will the second. In this day and age there are a lot of profits to be had in diaper rashes. Millions of dollars are spent every year to cure this uncomfortable and sometimes painful condition for the baby. It seems as time goes by there are more and more choices of medications to get rid of the rash and if they don’t work you find yourself trotting up to the doctor for a stronger cream.

As I was struggling with my third child and his diaper rash a good friend came to me and told me that cornstarch was the only thing that was going to help. I laughed and thought this couldn’t be true. In my area I can get a box of cornstarch for about two dollars and if used exclusively for diaper rashes it would probably last quite a few months.

I looked in my cupboard and lo and behold there a box of this wonderful powder. The only reason I was tempted to try it was my friend hit me with scientific reasoning that kind of made sense to me. She said that the rash is moist and you need something to dry it out. All these motions and creams you’re using on your baby’s bottom are only keeping the moisture in. With this scientific data behind me I was off to cornstarch my baby.

All I can say is that it worked and within a day my child’s bottom was no longer red and chaffed. It was a wonderful sight to behold.

I would no longer have to live my day in bath robes that were constantly being rotated. These creams were greasy and were wreaking havoc on anything I wore! I would be able to get back into my regular clothing again and hang these bath robes back up on the hooks where they belonged. After carrying the baby around without a diaper for half the day to air out his bottom, it was sure nice to be able to cover him again.

If you have a baby with a diaper rash and haven’t found a solution yet, try cornstarch. It really worked for me and was an all-natural affordable answer to the problem.

I never would have thunk it, but that’s a great alternative to those creams which are SO hard to wipe off.

So true how often the simplest solutions are the best–and even the cheapest! I have 8 kids, and I’d like to think I’ve learned a trick or two about kids, including those infamous diaper rashes, ha!
The “greasy creams”, in my experience, are not really a cure as much as they are a preventative of diaper rashes. If used before any sign of rash, they usually do a good job of keeping it away. Cornstarch can also do this, although it doesn’t last as long. In cases of the stubborn rash, I’ve often found I needed to use a cream which treats fungal skin infections, which contains the ingredient clotrimazole. When all else fails, try this. Usually clears it up in a matter of days, although you have to put it on for up to 2 weeks after.
