If you are a single mom like me, your kids might be reaching the age where they are becoming more curious and interested in the things you do. If you have young girls, you might have found them rummaging through your make-up and trying on some lipstick, or they are starting to follow you around the kitchen, wondering what you are baking. So what are you waiting for? Now is a great opportunity to do some mother- child baking!
This blog post will show you some great kid-friendly recipes which are simple and tasty. So if you are relaxing on the couch with your laptop, looking up some recipes while playing Foxy Bingo and contemplating whether to get on with that pile of ever growing ironing, why not do something much more fun and try out these recipes with your kids?
We all know how much kids love pizza, so why not let them create a smiley face out of their toppings?
Method: Buy pre-made miniature pizza bases, or make your own if you have time. In several bowls, lay out some cubed cheese, pepperoni slices, sweetcorn, strips of pepper and some tomato purée. Your kids will have fun spreading the purée and decorating their pizza however they like. Show them how to make a smiley face using pepperoni for eyes, a cube of cheese for a nose and a long strip of pepper for a smile. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes on 360°F, leave to cool slightly, then tuck in!
It doesn’t have to be Easter for you to make these sweet treats!
Method: Melt 14oz of chocolate using a bain-marie. Meanwhile, get your kids to pour out some cereal clusters into a bowl, it can be anything they like but it works best with Rice Krispies. Once the chocolate has melted, get your kids to mix the cereal into the chocolate and divide between several paper cupcakes. Let them decorate the nests with their favorite chocolate treats, such as Reese’s Pieces or M&Ms. Leave to set and enjoy!
