How to Grow Your Hair Fast

While there are many women who prefer the short and sassy haircuts, there are many others who desire long, flowing tresses. However, some women really struggle to figure out how to grow out their hair. Truth be told, there are certain techniques any woman can implement to gain the length of Rapunzel. If you’d like to work on growing your hair this year, consider these tips.

1. Deep Conditioning Treatments
One of the key elements with hair growth involves being intentional with length retention methods. Length retention can be difficult for many reasons. If you comb your hair and lots of hair comes out with the hairbrush, consider combing your hair while it’s wet instead. Also, start finger-detangling to be as gentle as possible. The longest part of your hair is also the oldest. You’ve got to do what you can to preserve the old ends. Don’t always resort to cutting the old hair off or you’ll always do that and not retain length. Focus on moisturizing the ends by deep-conditioning the hair on a regular basis. Consider doing it once or twice a month. After putting the deep conditioner in your hair, wrap your hair with a plastic cap and sit under the dryer or heated bonnet for 30 minutes to an hour. The heat allows the deep conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft for full moisturizing benefits.

2. Minimal Heat
If you use a lot of heat on your hair, don’t expect it to stick around for too long. For a few months, put away the curling iron, blow dryer and all the other hot hair tools. Start styling your hair without the use of any heat. The less you use heat, the more your hair will experience heat damage and drying effects. When you do decide to use the flat iron, always use a heat protectant and put it on a low setting.

3. Good Diet & Nutrition
A healthy diet will support your whole body and it’ll also help you maintain strong tresses. Make sure to consume a diet with whole foods like spinach, kale and sweet potatoes. Author Nina Teicholz strongly recommends fats found in foods like eggs, cheese and meat for overall health. After reading her book, The Big Fat Surprise, you might want to prepare a piece of lamb to go alongside your spinach salad. Be sure to also take supplements. Biotin is one of the most popular vitamins for hair growth. When you take biotin, make sure to consume lots of water with it. Many hair care companies also sell their own multivitamins that cater to hair growth as well.

4. Scalp Massages
Everyone has hair that grows. It’s just a matter of stimulating the growth and retaining the length. One relaxing practice you can adopt involves a small bottle of essential oil and your fingers. Before bed each night, put a few drops of an essential oil on your fingertips. Then, massage the oil into your scalp. Do this practice for five minutes. It’ll help with blood circulation and stimulation. Use essential oils like rosemary, ylang ylang and peppermint.
