Postlessly Devoted to Her

I can hardly believe that I let Thanksgiving pass without posting on this blog.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t have anything to be thankful for.  I do, I do! – I just said that in my best Tweety impression.

For one, I’m extremely grateful for this spanking pair of office pants (I’m not sure what they’re called), and the fact that I fit nicely into it (my butt is getting smaller with each passing day, I guess).

The most important thing I’m thankful for is the time I was able to spend with my daughter the past week, and weekend.  Though she was spotty all over from chicken pox, it has proven to be a silver lining on my cloud, as I got to have her for the weekend.  Normally, her dad would pick her up on a Friday afternoon and bring her back to me on Sunday.  Luckily, this weekend was a welcome exception.

One of the reasons I hardly touched my computer last week was I wanted to devote every free time I had with my daughter.  After a long, dreary day at work, all I looked forward to was to come home and catch Phineas and Ferb with her.

Inspired by a post from a blogger friend, Sam of What Little Things, I made a conscious decision to stop and smell the roses.  Heck, I sniffed the entire garden and stayed awhile.  Her post reminded me to find beauty and solace in the little things life has to offer.

So if I’m without a blog post for a few days, I’m probably dancing my heart out to the Wiggles with my daughter, or perfecting the color of Cinderella’s hair on a coloring book for the nth time.  Moments like these are undeniably priceless.

  1. Hello Pepper.. Happy Thanksgiving to you! Happy to hear you have been spending quality time with your girl.. reminded me that I have not! She is always in her quiet world, “mugging” on her books for the last two papers next week. I can only hover outside her room door and call out to her when it is meal time! :)

  2. Enjoy.Every.Single.Second. This post made my heart smile. There’s nothing like the love we have for our children!

  3. I can’t think of a better reason for not blogging than spending time with your daughter! I hope she is feeling better, the chicken pox are not fun!! Especially on Thanksgiving! I find it too easy to caught up in blogging, unplugging is a great idea, thanks!!

  4. Enjoy and appreciate each minute – these moments with children are precious and nothing should keep us too long away from them.

Pepper, the exact same thing happened to me this weekend! I didn’t have chicken pox, but boy, did I feel sick! It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I gave myself a welcome excuse to leave the computer behind completely and I ended up reading! =) I haven’t read in so long!

And thank you SOO much for mentioning my blog. You inspire me too and I imagine that your entire garden smelled fantastic! =)

    • Which reminds me… I haven’t buried myself in a book in ages! Nothing good to read, I guess :). Good to know you’re feeling better now.

  7. hello Peps..hala is your daughter ok?..your right nothing can replace the joys of motherhood-having quality time with our kids now that they are still young..as for me good thing my ex husband can’t demand time from them..they have been child abused so they don’t want also to see him..the court says it should have my kids consent if he wanted to see them..so my kids and I are really together..the three of us play games on my lappy hahaha..passing by Peps ;)

  8. Nice post. Taking time with our kids will never be regrettable. Makes me want to go hug my kiddos.

  9. I always love all the snuggles I get when my kids are sick – not that I like them being sick, but spending time with them, snuggling up, watching movies, those are some of my favorite days.

I hope your daughter gets better soon!

  10. How nice you could spend more quality time together!! That’s a PERFECT excuse for not blogging. Glad to hear your little one’s on the mend. Mine had chicken pox last month – not fun!

It was a pleasure to read your post! A warm sharing of the loving and happy mother. This weekend I am going to visit my goddaughter — and we are sure to be improving Cinderella’s hair color and play hide-and-seek. Looking forward to it!
