ME too!

What does it truly mean to have “me” time? Simply put, it’s making time for yourself, away from the usual demands of everyday life (work, kids, your spouse/partner, household chores). It’s about pursuing your interests and enriching yourself in the process.

Some women feel some amount of guilt when indulging themselves, but they must remember that they deserve to be pampered too, and to sink their teeth into anything and everything that pleases them, as long as within the boundaries of decency and good reason, of course. We women owe it to ourselves to feed our souls, to constantly pay attention to nourish the need to boost our self-esteem.

Not that we don’t get that sense of fulfillment already from our work, or from playing play-dough with our kids. We just need occasional diversion, which is hardly a sin. We need to touch base with who we are…with our core being. As a matter of fact, it helps recharge us, so we end up being more efficient mothers, wives, or employees. How can anything which will ultimately benefit a large number of people possibly be wrong? When we live more, we love more.

I do have “me” time on the weekends. Mostly, I just stay home, listen to music I grew up with (read: eighties and nineties music). I read…I write….eat….and eat some more. I watch some TV, well, it’s more channel surfing, thanks to my relatively short attention span. When budget permits, I go out and meet up with old friends. This particular activity, I find, reaffirms who I am. It reminds me of what makes me likable, I guess. When it comes to reminding me of what makes me LOVE-able, ah, that’s when Mr. SO (Significant Other) comes in. Probably, the topic of “him” makes for an entirely separate blog post. *wink*

Go, grab that DSLR and shoot away, or put on that Lycra top and hit the gym. The possibilities are limitless…just do what makes you happy, whatever gives you a sense of well-being. Your loved ones will love you more for it.
