Top 5 ways to be happier

Are you the type who sees the glass as half empty or half full?  With all the trials we go through in life, day in day out, it almost comes as no surprise to find most of us turning into pathetic pessimists.  Inspite of all the hardships life constantly throws at us, we should somehow try to keep our heads above water, and keep from being swallowed by utter despair.  What can we do to have a happier disposition in life?

Live in the moment.  Take each day as it comes.  Yes, you have to plan for your future, but you must live each day like it was your last.  The two most useless emotions are guilt and worry.  Guilt, because whatever you feel regretful about has already come to pass.  Worry, because what you are worried about has yet to happen.

Remember, you are number one.  This concept may be difficult to digest for us moms who tend to put the needs of our families before ours, but we must keep in mind that if we take good care of ourselves first, everything else will follow.  We’ll end up having more energy and inspiration to look after the people we love.

Immerse yourself in the things you love doing.  Find something you are totally passionate about, and just indulge.  This doesn’t mean that you should leave the dishes piling up on the kitchen sink and shoot away on your DSLR.  Learn to carve out some time for you to take a breather from your daily chores and dabble in a few worthwhile hobbies.

Exercise.  If you are not too keen on hitting the gym in a spandex top, you can still get your endorphin rush by taking walks around the park, for instance, or even by mopping the floor.

Keep positive friends close by.  When you hang out with optimistic people, their sunny disposition naturally rubs off on you.

  1. Being positive has always been hard for me, but I am always trying things to keep my mind occupied with good thoughts. Hiking always works for me, so I do that as often as I can.

  6. hello Pepper..thank you for your comment on my site..true no matter how painful our circumstances are we have a choice to be may not be easy at it seems specially on my life being physically abused by my mom and ex is traumatic my kids and I have been physically abused so there are times that I go weak..but all of these trials made me stronger to fight to live even if have heart attacks..true I do what I love best to make me busy-taking care of my kids,cooking and blogging-sharing my testimony for others to learn from it..thank you so much again :)
